Training Pathways

There are several training pathways that volunteers can choose depending on individual strengths and preferences. Each pathway leads to an industry certificate in that particular area, and ultimately to a national certificate if the volunteer wishes to pursue that level of qualification.

EOC training pathway

 

EOC/ICP Staff

The EOC (Emergency Operations Centre) has a number of positions to fill. This pathway provides training in Operations, Planning/Intelligence, Logistics, Public Information, Message Management, Business Support, Communications and EOC Management.

Welfare

A key component of an emergency response is the welfare of affected people.This pathway provides training in delivering welfare support and in supervising a welfare centre to receive and register displaced persons.

Public Information

In an emergency, the dissemination of accurate information to the media and the public is critical.It is important that all media releases are channeled through a designated public information person and authorised by the Incident Controller.

Community Response

A key element of good emergency management is community resilience. The initial response to an emergency will come from the community itself.This pathway may be of interest to volunteers from within the Community Development team.
